Farewell gig, Witham Rugby Club

Slims farewell gig was held on Friday 26th Feb 1999 at the Witham Rugby Club.  As with many previous visits to the club, this was a charity gig with the sole purpose of raising money for local causes.  The target for fundraising on this occasion was to pay for training for a guide dog puppy, fittingly named "Slim".

You can click on any of the following pictures to see a larger version - the quality of some is a little lacking due to the low level of light used to set the mood!

Sound engineering John and Kevin from excellent R+B outfit, The Makeshifts, provided the PA and sound engineering for the evening. Support band Supporting Slim were the Voodoo Chillis, playing a mix of rock covers and original material.
Filling up! The crowd fill the club up to capacity as Slim get ready to Rock'n'Roll. Filling up! The crowd boogie as the band belt out yet another up-tempo R+B number.
Cheque During the interval event organiser, Jerry Hill hands over an unfeasibly large cheque for £2,500. Cheque Mick O'Dell sells another limited edition band CD.  50 individually numbered copies raised another £500.
More! The interval is over, time for some more action. Back in action And another dose of the same!
Vantage point Paul Townsend stands on a radiator to get a good view over the capacity crowd. Werewolves, aaahhh oooohhhh Howard J. Bills takes centre stage for one of the bands most popular renditions, Werewolves.
It's all over To quote a line from a famous song, "It's all over now". Relaxing... Ian, Don and Tim seen relaxing at the end of the gig.
